Special Needs Child

Every child is special, so needless to say, the term "special" applies to every child. Albeit, there are a certain few that are labeled "special needs," not necessarily because they are needy, incompetent, or too much different from all other children. These children often have something different that makes them stand out from others.

This 'something' could be of a physical or mental nature, or simply put, a disability. Because of this, these children people tend to be more sensitive to these children's situations or needs.

Sadly, special needs children are considered undesirable, because of the extra effort often required of their caretakers in order to provide them with proper care. Although these children are not as similar to their peers as many would wish, they are unique in their own ways. They have personalities, characteristics, things about them that make them so loveable.

As Terry Bagby, the adoptive parent of a special needs child put it, "If you supply the needs of a special needs child, you end up with a special child."
